McCaul is not for all

In my opinion, Michael McCaul has failed Texas District 10. As he continues to support reprehensible statements and un-American actions of the presidential administration, McCaul also parrots the worst inclinations of Republicans. He gloats about the greatness of the administration by placing posts on X of a child with cancer - recall the Congressional Address - while simultaneously supporting cuts to cancer research, Medicaid, and more that would continue to help similar children. His hypocrisy firmly grasps the mindset that most Republicans have long held true: Politicians can do no wrong.
Looking at McCaul’s voting record affirms his intentions. Recently, the EPA recommended restrictions on tire manufacturing that he voted down. Why would Mike (we’ll just call him Mike) oppose clean air and water? It cannot be because air and water illegally immigrated. Surely air and water have not transitioned between genders and now want to play girls’ sports. I know what it is! The government must spend too much money purchasing air and water just to give it to the old, poor, and lazy. (That sounds like a Trae Crowder bit and I apologize to Mr. Crowder if that’s the case).
Now Mike is just trying to make his Commander-in-chief proud. Just look at all the colorful executive orders the president has put into play! That list is much too long for a Letter to the Editor, and the overgrown Oompa-Loompa (no offense to Oompa-Loompas) is not worth much of my time. He pumps out asinine political agendas for what I’ve started to call “Friday Fun Night at the White House”, spitting out Adderall-infused executive orders like a bad game of Scattergories. Maybe that’s a small price to pay for his hard work during the week. I suppose posting on X and perusing the Necronomicon for the end-game spell against humanity constitutes full-time employment by the government these days. Actually, that makes much scarier sense than I thought it would. Apologies if you have trouble sleeping at night; I already do.
Back to our main man, McCaul recently worked on legislation we can all get behind titled the Give Kids A Chance Act. As pretty as that sounds it’s not really about saving kids. In fact, it mostly just continues our current drug approval system and tweaks a few already established norms. In no way does it do anything promising in the process. And much of the legislation reads like an assist to Big Pharma and Israel (yes, you read that correctly). The bigger extrapolation points to Saudi Arabia joining the Abraham Accords so we can be doubly reliant on them for oil and our drug supply. But that tracks with Republicans’ fetish for a bunch of journalist-murdering heathens.
Now a small part of the legislation is aimed at conditions like pediatric cancer, but, as we’ve seen NIH funding cut and research stifled specifically in the realm of pediatric cancer, how exactly does this bill give our kids a chance? It doesn’t encourage research. Programs shuttered doors shortly after the NIH cuts were announced back in February. So all the fluff and circumstance around the name of Mike’s legislation really disturbs me as a pharmacist. What folks tend to forget is a lot of the drug discovery grunt work is done at the university level and not actually by pharmaceutical companies.
Meanwhile, Mike probably just kicks his feet up on the recliner and watches Squid Game. Can he not take the time for a good, fun idea anymore? I guess he’s letting Kristi Noem take that prize by making immigration into a reality TV show. I know the DHS claims that is not true but even they have lost credibility under this administration. Do Republicans really just sit around and dream this stuff up on our tax dollar? And we can’t find the money to truly support arts in schools? We could actually pay fine arts instructors at La Grange Elementary what they’re worth, but we’d rather pay some political clowns to dream up depraved, deplorable game shows. I guess that’s what happens when a bunch of racist Gen-X’ers get together and reminisce about staying home sick from school watching nothing but Nickelodeon and The Price IS Right.
I believe Mike will vote for the “Big Beautiful Bill” (and that is what they actually call it) with steep cuts to the Medicaid program further harming his constituents. I support rural hospitals across Texas. Many hospitals, rural or not, operate on the brink of financial collapse. Many Texas rural hospitals, several of them being very good facilities, are likely to close their doors if/when this thing is passed. I’m sure they’ll hang on for about two years but probably not much longer. Thanks, Mike! I enjoy writing more than being a pharmacist anyways, but the nurses who lose their jobs and the patients who lose access might have something else to say. I hope Mike proves me wrong on this one.
It appears Michael McCaul prefers to keep his district, and the rest of Texas, sick without means. That is the person who represents us across Bastrop, La Grange, Columbus, and more. This is our representative who will help kill healthcare in our state and across the country along with his buds Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. The new label floating around for this agenda is MASA, make America sick again. Now every time I eat a tamale I’m going to be reminded of it; thanks a lot Mike.
